# Changes Since Legacy

All changes made to Legacy World SMP for the release of Kings of Earth. This is ideal for veteran players as they will better understand how their gameplay will be different from the Legacy Edition.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Please keep in mind that the changes listed here are not in refined detail!

It is highly recommended that you thoroughly read through all the guides and important information sections to fully understand Kings of Earth (formally World SMP). Most mechanics from the Legacy Edition of World SMP are the same but have been either improved with quality of life changes or changed entirely to better relay our goal of this entire Minecraft server: **Simulating civilization in Minecraft.**
{% endhint %}

## Server Rule Changes

* **The 'No spawn camping/killing' rule has been removed during war**
  * We understand that the rule removal may be unpopular; however, this rule has been removed due to the introduction of vigor and its influence on the new war regulations.
    * Players can be trapped and *manually* spawn killed to lower the number of lives a player has. Players cannot be auto-killed upon respawn with tactics that do not require manual input from the user (like lava bed traps or auto-clickers/macros, etc. are not allowed).
    * Players can circumvent this by simply not setting their respawn location in unsecured locations or rejoining the server later after death.
  * **NOTE:** Players can NOT spawn kill players who are not actively participating in a war with the individual(s).
* **Rules against bullying will be better enforced**
  * Following the complete speech, we've always never deemed bullying as acceptable; however, we want to ensure newer players are aware of this fact. We understand the serious nature that surrounds bullying so, as a preventative measure, we decided to include it in our list of server rules (applies to Minecraft and Discord).
* **Added support for Unban Packages**
  * Unbans can now be purchased with the approval of KoE admins.
* **Added an exception for End Rifts**
  * End Rifts allow players to enter the end for a period of time.
  * This is the only exception to the End Dimension ban.
* **Added regulations for One-Time Teleports (OTTs)**
  * One-Time Teleports (also known as OTT kits) are kits that allow new players to teleport to whichever continent is closest to the country they selected to claim/join.
  * We've added regulations for OTTs because understand that the nature OTTs bring can be heavily abused; therefore if it is discovered that an OTT is being misused outside of its intended purpose, we will hold the individual(s) accountable for their transgressions.

## War Rule Changes

* **New Control Flags system**
* **Lives system receives an update revolving around vigor.**
* **Wars now have fees (vigor) that must be paid to continue the ongoing war.**

[War Fees](/kings-of-earth-wiki/important-information/war-rules/war-regulations/war-fees.md)
{% endcontent-ref %}

*  **Added civilian classifications**
  * Active-Combatants (ACs) are individuals who are actively participating in the war and can be killed under normal war circumstances.
  * Non-Combatants (NCs) are individuals who are not actively participating in the war and can not be killed under normal war circumstances.

{% endcontent-ref %}

## Geopolitical Rule Changes

* **Claims now cost vigor to upkeep - upkeep costs** (it helps if your citizens are paying their taxes)
* **Passive claims reduced**: 8 max ---> 5 max
* **Passive claims cost vigor to claim and increase the nation's upkeep cost** (again, taxes)
* **Legends rank subscription players can passive claim as quickly as 2 days** (compared to 3 days traditional)
* **Attacking a country during a grace period is now a war crime**
  * A new country's grace period lasts 7 days after the creation
* **Specified leader inactivity:** N/A ---> 7 days

## New Mechanics

* **Evokers have been removed**
  * Lessons from the legacy edition showed that totems are just too powerful!
  * Raid farms are able to produce hundreds, even thousands of totems every hour, as well as an abundance of other resources like emeralds, potions, strings, crossbows, saddles, exp, etc.
  * Players have statistically used totems in over 90% of wars with nearly all fights having players stocking many totems.
  * For this reason, evokers (the only way to obtain totems) have been removed from the server. The ONLY way to obtain totems now is through events and by purchasing them with vigor for 10 vigor each. This will provide monetary value to vigor and make totems much harder to obtain in mass.
  * Prices for totems may increase/decrease depending on the server economy and the number of totems that players have and statistically use in conflicts.
* **Vigor**
  * Your life force is stored in these shards. You need vigor in order to respawn.
  * If you cannot afford the price of death to respawn (2 vigor), you will be vigor-banned from the server for 24 hours; meaning you can't play on the server for 24 hours.
  * You can bypass the vigor ban by having other players pay 5 vigor to revive you.
  * Vigor is also needed for essential nation functions like paying upkeep costs, war fees, obtaining totems, and trading with other players (as most players will use vigor as money).

{% endcontent-ref %}

* **Custom plant/tree growth**
  * To make the server a little bit more realistic, we've added PwnPlantGrowth to make it so that plant and tree growths are now affected by the biome they're planted in.
  * This will make nations rely on trading with other nations for their crucial regional supplies and make it so that a jungle plant, for example, will not grow in a desert (even with bone meal).

  * Alcoholic drinks have been introduced.
  * Suspicious "foods" have also been added that give a *euphoric* feel.

* **Reinforcements**
  * No need to worry about your builds being constantly griefed. With the new reinforcement plugin, you can reinforce blocks to make them harder to mine and allow for your builds to last longer.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://kings-of-earth.gitbook.io/kings-of-earth-wiki/legacy-world-smp/changes-since-legacy.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
